Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, has confirmed that it will switch to 100% digital boarding passes from Wednesday, November 12, instead of Monday, November 3, ensuring a seamless transition for customers during the quieter period after the mid-term break.
Ryanair’s move to 100% digital boarding passes means that from 12 November, passengers will no longer be able to download and print a paper boarding pass, but will need to use the digital boarding pass generated in their ‘myRyanair’ app at check-in to board their Ryanair flight.
This is the latest step in Ryanair’s cutting-edge digital transformation, which has already rolled out several features and initiatives across its app to improve the travel experience for its more than 206 million customers (especially during disruptions), including:
- Seat Ordering: Order drinks and food via your phone and receive priority service.
- Live Flight Information: Real-time tracking of boarding, gate and delay information.
- Direct disruption alerts: Real-time notifications from Ryanair’s operations center during disruptions.
Nearly 80% of Ryanair’s more than 206 million passengers already use digital boarding passes. The move to 100% digital boarding passes from November 12th follows other key ticketing sectors (festivals, music, sporting events) that have successfully transitioned to digital-only ticketing.
Ryanair Chief Marketing Officer Dara Brady said:
“To ensure a seamless transition to 100% digital boarding passes, we will be making the switch from Wednesday, November 12, which is traditionally a quieter time after the mid-term break. The move to digital boarding passes will offer our customers a faster, smarter, greener and more streamlined experience via our “myRyanair” app, where passengers will also be able to take advantage of useful features, such as Seat Control and live flight information. ”
