Free, fun Italian food printables for kids to keep them engaged while traveling and encourage trying the local specialties in a non stress way.
My kids adore having a little task, while we explore.
Having an easy activity to complete gets them a sense of purpose, help with walking (they get so taken by the activity, we cover more distance!) and it is also a fantastic way to get the to learn about the place.
In previous posts I have shared Italy coloring pages for kids and on Etsy I have some cute scavenger hunts for kids, around many of the most popular locations in Italy.
Today, I share with you my food printable, which are a nice addition to the material above.
These printables are for you to print at home and you can also bind them together to make a little booklet for the kids. On their own, or with the other printables, for a more complete and super cheap activity set for them.
I hope you enjoy them!
My Italian food printables for kids : Best Gelato Chart
My kids adore gelato and what better way to get them to become gelato connosseaurs than getting them to rate the best ones? I printed out several of these pages so each time they can have a full scoring game and, at the end, proclaim their very own overall winner
Best Gelato flavors Chart
Gelato comes in all flavors and a great way to motivate kids to try be adventurous with their flavors is to challenge them to rate the most common types of gelato in Italy.
Of course, you don’t have to risk ordering a whole gelato they may not like. In non touristy places (or anywhere not overrun), you can ask the server for a small taste with a disposable spoon and then, if kids prefer, order their usual tried and tested ones.

Best Pizza Chart
Pizza is from Naples and Rome but it is pretty ubiquitous in Italy so this chart works well in most places! You can use if for pizza or also interpret ‘pizza’ in a wider sense and include focaccia, schiacchiata or specialty breads from each region you visit.

Best pasta specialties chart
Pasta is just a support, so you cannot really have a ‘best pasta’ chart. But you can definitely have your very own chart rating the most traditional pasta dishes. The very best way to do this is by learning where each dish is from (look regional specialties on my post about Italian local food here) so you taste the very best version of each, just where the dish was born!
